Pilot

DAI and SAT pilot on your highway’s cameras

Before any production contract, Omnivias assesses the cameras your road section already has and runs DAI and SAT on footage from the highway itself, measured against the agreed criteria. Depending on the size of the project, the assessment and the proof of concept can be free of charge, and the proof of concept starts running within 10 days of signing the agreement.

Four steps, from assessment to calibration

Each step has its own deliverable. The decision to move to production is made on the result measured in the proof of concept.

  1. Assessment

Resolution, position, coverage, lighting and network of the existing cameras, against what the operation wants to measure and detect.

  2. Proof of concept

SAT and DAI running on footage from the road section itself, measured against the agreed success criteria.

  3. Production

On-premises, cloud or hybrid architecture, control center integration, rules, alerts and reports.

  4. Continuous calibration

Rules and models tuned camera by camera using the real alert history.

What the concessionaire provides

  • Video from the chosen cameras: access via RTSP or ONVIF, live or recorded.
  • Location: camera, milepost, direction and what each one covers.
  • Objective: the events and indicators that matter to operations.
  • Follow-up: one person from operations to validate the results.

What Omnivias delivers

  • Camera-by-camera assessment: what each one can measure and detect, and what to adjust.
  • Proof of concept: DAI and SAT running on footage from the road section, in the Omnivias interface or in the control center.
  • Measured result: a comparison against the agreed success criterion.
  • Production proposal: architecture, integrations, schedule and price.

Success criteria agreed in advance

A pilot is only useful if the result is comparable. That is why the criteria are written down before starting: which events count, which counting reference will be used and how operations will classify each alert.

In projects in production, counting accuracy runs above 95% against the field reference, and unfounded alerts stay below 10% after site calibration. The pilot shows where your road section stands against those numbers.

Pilot frequently asked questions

How much do DAI and SAT cost?

Pricing is on request. It depends on the number of cameras, the events the operation wants to detect and measure, and the architecture (on premises, cloud or hybrid). The camera assessment is what allows the proposal to be sized.

Is there a cost for the assessment and the proof of concept?

Depending on the size of the project, the assessment and the proof of concept can be free of charge. The terms are agreed before starting, in the agreement between the parties.

How soon does the proof of concept start?

The proof of concept starts running within 10 days of signing the agreement. Its duration is agreed according to the events of interest: a rare event needs more observation time than a traffic count.

What does the concessionaire need to provide?

Access to the video of the chosen cameras (RTSP or ONVIF), the list of those cameras with their location on the road section, the events and indicators of interest, and one person from operations to follow along and validate the results.

Do we need to install anything on the road?

No. The pilot uses the cameras that already exist. When needed, an inference server is installed in a technical room, or the analysis runs in the cloud, depending on connectivity.

How is the pilot’s success measured?

Against criteria agreed before starting, for example counting accuracy against a reference count, the share of unfounded alerts and the events of interest detected during the period.

What should go into a DAI and SAT technical specification?

The required detection functions (for example, those of the ARTESP CFTV-IVA specification), the traffic indicators, the acceptance criterion and how it will be measured, the architecture (on premises, cloud or hybrid), integrations with the control center and the incident management system, image retention and support.
